How Great Are You?

Quotes From The Video:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure.”
~ Nelson Mandela

“I’m gonna show you how great I am!
Last night I cut the light off in the bedroom, hit the switch and was in the bed before the room was dark.”

“I’m gonna show you how great I am!
Only last week I murdered a rock.
Injured a stone.
Hospitalized a brick.
I’m so mean I make medicine sick.”

“I have wrastled with an alligator.
I done tussled with a whale.
I done handcuffed lightning, thrown thunder in jail.”
~ Muhammad Ali

“This kid’s gonna be the greatest kid in the world. This kid’s gonna be better than anyone I ever knew.”
~Rocky

“But somewhere along the lines you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and try to tell ya – you’re no good. And when things got hard you started looking for someone to blame. Like a big shadow.”

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place – and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.”

“You, me or nobody’s gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you’re hit – it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward! How much you can take and KEEP MOVING FORWARD! That’s how winning is done! Cuz if you’re willing to go through all the battling you’re gonna go through to get what you wanna get. Who’s got the right to stop you?”

“I mean maybe some of you guys have got something you never finished, something you really want to do, something you never said to someone – SOMETHING! And, you’re told no – even after you’ve paid your dues. WHO’S GOT THE RIGHT TO TELL YOU NO!? NOBODY!”

“It’s your right to listen to your gut and it ain’t nobody’s right to say no after you’ve earned the right to BE WHO YOU WANNA BE AND DO WHAT YOU WANNA DO!”

“Now if you know what your worth than go out and get what your worth – but you gotta be willing to take the hits! And, not point your finger and say you ain’t what you wanna be because of HIM OR HER OR ANYBODY! COWARDS DO THAT AND THAT AIN’T YOU! YOU’RE BETTER THAN THAT!”
~Rocky Balboa

“It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
~ Marianne Williamson (Also quoted by Nelson Mandela)

OMG – this made my energy run through my body and brought tears to my eyes. YES, I am going to show you and you and you how great I am! Pumped up my training for the 100 meter qualification June 5th and I am going to the BEST I can be.
Thank you so much for this video. I am going to play that when I tackle the stairs in Santa Monica. Thank you Todd – Ingrid

Thanks Ingrid. Those stairs don't stand a chance. Make sure you stop by Home Depot so you can re-build them after you destroy them. :)

Dang, that hits you pretty hard. Was gonna finally take a scarce off day from basketball training, but now, I'm gonna get back in that gym. Some real inspiration right there. Thanks Todd

Great video and very inspirational words. These same words (by mandela) are used in the movie 'coach carter'. It's powerful everytime I hear them spoken out loud.

I'm currently out with a hamstring injury (pulled it in the relay 3 days ago) and this motivates me immensely to get back up immediately and continue to fight for what I believe in. Nothing will get me down. If I fall, I don't stay down, but I get up straightaway : )

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Only by having been in the deepest valley will one truly know how high one has climbed to reach the mountaintop. It's the journey and not the destination that we will remember the day we get to the top of the mountain :D

Stay strong, stay positive and never stop fighting for what you believe and want : )

Nice to hear it fired you up Will. If you love what you do – the training won't feel like training. :)

Make sure you watch the 'Mind-Mender' video for your injury in The Champions Challenge. It'll cut your rehab time down by a ton.

  13. Mike 29 April 2010 at 3:22 am #

If i could afford the championships challenge i would, i think one of my main problems is the mental game, but i'm the most dedicated kid you'll ever meet. That was an awesome video~~~

  14. Todd Herman 29 April 2010 at 2:57 pm #

Rarely is the physical game ever the weakest part of anyone's game Mike. So the mental game being your weakest isn't abnormal. (thanks for commenting!)

  15. Guest 30 April 2010 at 3:05 am #

    What were the songs used?

  16. Lachlan 30 April 2010 at 6:01 am #

    Hey man,
I was the same but its well worth the money
I couldnt believe how much it has helped my game
its worth every cent and I was mentally strong before i started

The battle is always in the mind, when we learn to conquer the mind, then and only then we can transcend to a higher level of consciousness!!! Continue to stimulate and reframe our minds!!!!!!!!!!!! Be well!!

Great Video Todd… Thanks for posting…
One quick thing… neither quote you have attributed to Nelson Mandela are actually from him. They are both quotes from Marianne Williamson’s book Return To Love…

Thanks for the heads up. The change is on it’s way. :)
